The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania H.E Samia Suluhu Hassan on 6th March 2020 laid the foundation stone of the Institute of Finance Management for Lake Zone Campus at Sapiwi village in Simiyu Region.
In her speech, the Vice President has called on the citizens of the village of Sapiwi Bariadi to be guard of IFM properties. She said the Government has the responsibility of managing the campus, but the responsibility of protecting the property of the campus and its students rests with the people.
She reveal that, the presence of the institute in the village would help to grow the economy of the citizens individually, including the growth of the village and the district as a whole.
She promised the villagers that the Government would dig a large well to serve the people around the campus as well as provide them with electricity.
Earlier speaking on the event the Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning Dr. Ashatu Kijaji (MP), called on all financial institutions in the country, to take advantage of the institute’s presence, to ensure that they move financial services for the students.
The Rector of the Institute of Finance Management Prof. Tadeo Satta, said the first phase of construction of the campus will be completed by May 2020, for this phase the institute will be able to accommodate 1000 students.
Professor Satta, said the construction of the first phase of the institute costs three billion that covers six staff houses, conference halls, four classrooms, and a canteen.
