Statements from the Dean:

On behalf of the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, I would like to welcome you to the Institute of Finance Management, a centre of Excellency. We are the oldest Institute in areas of tax management and administration and the leading providers of education in this field in Tanzania. Our faculty is also proud to announce the commencement of its brand new programme of Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance (Bsc. BEF) that will start to be offered just in the next academic year, 2019/2020. These programmes are offered alongside others in areas of MBA, Human Resources Management and Business Administration, among others at Master’s and postgraduate levels as well as certificate and diploma courses in similar fields

We are a community of scholarship in a creative and dynamic commercial city, Dar es Salaam. We set high standards and we have a clear vision of the future. Its realization will demand energy and commitment and careful execution. As part of the Institute, we are committed to its mission statement, to use our “highly qualified and committed employees, and modern technology to provide quality market-driven academic and professional training, research and consultancy”

One of the Faculty's two main roles is to help our students achieve their potential and become what they want to be and what society needs. Our other main role is to generate new knowledge which is based on our long and strong ties with the industry in our areas of competence with hands on experience so as to offer professionals who can solve practical problems in our society.

We have for a long period of time, built a reputation for teaching and research excellence. We are committed to innovation and the development of a competency-based society, both in our region and nationally. We aim to ensure that our students have the support and encouragement they need to achieve their full potential.

The faculty has two departments namely the department of economics and tax management and department of management sciences.

Our academic staff is committed to excellence in both teaching and research which enables them to provide a vibrant and stimulating learning environment in which to study economics, tax, business management, entrepreneurship, business law, communication skills, human resources and related subjects. Teaching staff also have professional expertise in their subject areas and there is thriving culture of research and consultancy. The faculty runs staff seminars on every last Thursday of the Month which provides a platform for our staff to test and sharpen their research ideas. Staff seminars also serve staff with up to date information on issues of interest regionally and nationally.
