About this Programme

This qualification is designed for a person who will independently study, apply, plan, innovate and manage Information and Communication Technology solutions for better performance in the dynamic business environments. The programme has been developed towards producing responsible, creative graduates with skills necessary to deal with professional Computing and Information Technology aspects in an organization.

Programme Objectives

The graduates of this programme will be competent and able to;

  1. Analyse, evaluate and interpret business and industry challenges.
  2. Provide sound IT based solutions.
  3. Implement, maintain computer based information systems.
  4. Develop and enforce policies pertaining to Information Technology in relation to a particular organisation.

WHAT YOU WILL STUDY


Direct Entry: Any two principal passes in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Advanced Mathematics, Agriculture, Computer Science or Nutrition. Those without a principal pass or a subsidiary pass in Advanced Mathematics or a pass in Basic Applied Mathematics must have a credit at O-Level or Foundation Programme of the OUT with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Equivalent qualification: Diploma in ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business Informatics, Computer Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

The programme opens up opportunities in several areas of information technology. A graduate of this programme can work as an information systems manager, systems administrator, IT project manager and systems analyst.
