Computer Networking and Systems

The Computer Networking and Systems Research Group at the Institute of Finance Management is the vanguard of Tanzania's digital backbone, engineering next-generation infrastructure through cutting-edge research in software-defined networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), and secure access service edge (SASE) architectures. This group designs and prototypes scalable, autonomous network systems that are critical for supporting the high-frequency transactions of Tanzania's burgeoning FinTech sector and the massive data throughput required for national e-governance initiatives. Their work extends to developing robust cybersecurity frameworks utilizing AI-driven threat detection and blockchain-based security protocols to fortify the nation's financial data against evolving threats. By pioneering the deployment of IoT integration and 5G network slicing models tailored for local challenges, the group directly enables resilient and intelligent connectivity, ensuring the secure, low-latency digital foundation necessary for sustainable economic expansion and a fully integrated digital Tanzania.
